State Road A1A Update for March 1, 2019

🔶 SRA1A Project Update 3.1.19 🔶

🔸 Northside 🔸- Next week the Contractor will begin drilling operations to install the concrete shafts that will create the buried seawall. The finished wall will have alternating "columns" of reinforced and unreinforced concrete. The reinforced columns are created by placing cages created from fiberglass rods. Fiberglass is used in place of steel rebar to protect against corrosion. The shaft is then filled with concrete. Work will also continue clearing, adding sand and placing the guide wall.

🔸 Southside 🔸 - The detour for southbound SRA1A traffic is now in place between 7th Street South and 23rd Street South. This coming week, the Contractor is completing paving on the temporary northbound travel lane of SRA1A and installing a low-profile barrier wall to separate the new northbound lane from the work area. Crews will begin removing sidewalk, starting at the south end and moving north, in preparation for the installation of new water mains. A temporary pedestrian walkway will be created using temporary channeling devices on the existing southbound pavement. We respectfully request that pedestrians and bicyclists remain within the designated walkway at all time.

🔸- Please continue to comply with the 25 MPH Speed Limits and pedestrians please stay out of the work zones for safety! Thanks and stay posted for updates!
