Background for Emergency Information Contact
In the recent years we have all heard
about placing a contact in your cell phone that is labeled I.C.E.
with numbers for contacting someone in case of an emergency. Well
along with that, the State of Florida Department of Highway & Motor
Vehicles has added another way. By clicking the link above, you will
be directed to a web site with a little information about how this
was started, and then the link to update your own information.
The DMV urges you to make your
emergency contact information available to law enforcement in the
event you are involved in a crash or other emergency situation. It
is simple to enroll on-line by going to the link above and selecting
emergency contact information. You will be able to enter the names,
addresses, and telephone numbers for two (2) emergency contact
people. That information will be stored in a secure protected
database with your driver record or identification card.
Something also new for those with
kids. Children can now be issued Florida I.D. cards at age 5, and
may also have this information stored on their card.
Please
take the time to do this for you and your loved ones, and then pass
it on to everyone you know who has a FL. DL or ID.
