2021/2022 Budget Fact Sheet

The 21/22 adopted budget has set very reasonable goals for the City to achieve in the new fiscal year. One of the main goals is to focus on the service quality for all residents. Additional goals, for the City, include the focusing of efforts on community improvement and small business success.

Highlights of the new budget are as follows:

  •  Expansion of the general outreach and communication with public.
  •  Expand public safety services at the Police and Fire Departments.
  •  A new and dedicated grounds maintenance crew that will work to improve the overall aesthetic appeal of all public spaces.
  •  Initiate projects to improve the Pier, which will include the restoration and rebuild of the pier that will be funded by FEMA.
  •  Improve and add to existing recycling program. (More details to come)
  •  Upgrading the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) to Advanced Waste Treatment (AWT).
  •  Expand/Improve our CRA operation by re-establishing the grant program and hiring a new director. The CRA’s (Community Redevelopment Agency) main goal is the revitalization of the core downtown business district as well as a designated older residential area.
  • The city will be moving forward on a new tele-metering system that will slow down water loss for the city and improve/mitigate meter issues.
  •  New initiatives to help small businesses through a mini grant program that will be funded by the ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act).
