Welcome Matt Mondays!
February 4, 2022 - The Flagler Beach Police Department and the Flagler Beach Business Bureau (FB3) have partnered to host a monthly, interactive community policing event, entitled “Welcome Matt Mondays!”.
“Welcome Matt Mondays!” is a community outreach event that will occur on the first Monday of each month, at a different business in the City of Flagler Beach. The collaboration between the Police Department and the local, Flagler Beach business community is designed to enhance the lines of communication for all parties involved.
The inaugural event is set to occur on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the location is Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill. Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill is located at 1848 South Oceanshore Boulevard (SRA1A), in Flagler Beach, Florida.
“Welcome Matt Mondays!” is similar to “Coffee with a Cop” or “Doughnuts with Doughney” in that it provides the public with an opportunity to meet and speak openly with Chief Doughney about issues and/or concerns in Flagler Beach. The monthly meetings, held at various businesses throughout the City, provides citizens with access to the Police Chief, in a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere.
“This new proactive initiative is at the core of community policing, in that the open lines of communication between Law Enforcement, residents and businesses is how we can make our City a better place to live, work and visit” said Flagler Beach Police Chief Matt Doughney.
Doughney continued by stating “A local business welcoming the Police Chief and members of the community to their establishment, at a time that’s convenient for them was the genesis of this program”.
Johnny Lulgjuraj, President of FB3 and the owner of Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill, stated, “positive energy and open lines of respectful communication is what FB3 is all about, and we’re happy to partner with our Police Chief to make this program happen in Flagler Beach”.
Chief Doughney concluded by stating, “Welcoming the Chief, whose first name is Matt, made the name of the program pretty easy”.
